PAKISTAN: On Monday, a Pakistani court dismissed murder accusations against former prime minister Imran Khan, his attorney said.
“God be praised,” the attorney Naeem Panjutha wrote on the messaging service X, formerly known as Twitter, noting that a judge had thrown out the accusations relating to the killing of a lawyer in the southern city of Quetta.
Khan, who was accused of the murder in June, has been involved in more than 100 cases ever since he was removed from office in April 2022 by a vote of confidence in the parliament after a dispute with the nation’s powerful military.
On Monday, an Islamabad high court is also expected to rule on Khan’s appeal, which he filed in an effort to get his conviction in a graft case.
