UNITED STATES: Elon Musk, the CEO of the social media platform, said on Monday that only verified Twitter handles would be eligible to vote in polls beginning April 15, a move that Musk believes will address the issue of advanced AI bot swarms.
Musk also stated that only verified accounts would be eligible to appear in Twitter’s ‘For You’ recommendations, which show a stream of messages from accounts on Twitter.
“Starting April 15th, only verified accounts will be eligible to be in ‘For You’ recommendations. This is the only realistic way to address advanced AI bot swarms taking over. It is otherwise a hopeless losing battle. Voting in polls will require verification for the same reason,” the CEO tweeted on Monday.
“That said, it’s ok to have verified bot accounts if they follow terms of service & don’t impersonate a human,” his tweet continues.
Last year, Musk said that Twitter would only allow paying Twitter Blue subscribers to vote in policy-related polls.
