INDIA: The much-awaited sequel to Oh My God (OMG) is knocking on the doors of the silver screen, and fans are highly awaiting the film’s release. Meanwhile, the makers dropped the official teaser of the movie, giving a major hint of court room drama.
The last part of the film showcased Paresh Rawal as an atheist; this time, Pankaj Tripathi will be seen as a devotee of Lord Shiva. The social-comedy drama will be released on August 11, 2023. Amit Rai added his directorial vision to OMG 2, and he has also handled the writing department.
The teaser opens with Tripathi as Kanti Sharan Mudgal, who pours water on the shivling and bends on his knees with folded hands. The clip begins with a voiceover by Pankaj Tripathi, where he says “Existence of God is determined by people’s belief or disbelief in him.”
The teaser gave a short glimpse of Paresh Rawal’s OMG character, Kanji Lalji Mehta (who was an atheist), but God has been there beside him through thick and thin.
In the first part, Kanji, the shopkeeper, had filed a case against God over the earthquake in the city, which eventually ruined his antique shop. The shopkeeper refrains from believing in the existence of God; however, in the climax, Akshay as Lord Krishna, shows his actual identity, which was an eye-opener for Kanji Lalji Mehta.
The first film also featured Mithun Chakraborty, Govind Namdev, and the late actor Om Puri in pivotal roles.
Besides Akshay Kumar, OMG 2 will star Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam and Arun Govil in lead roles.
The movie will clash with Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2. There will be tough competition between the two movies as the genres are completely different, and both have separate fan bases.
