INDIA:  Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy recently talked about ChatGPT’s role in the job market. He added that AI wouldn’t significantly threaten human jobs.

In an interview with the media, Murthy expressed his admiration for ChatGPT and similar technology. He said that “ChatGPT is an excellent addition to knowledge generation and performing certain tasks, such as writing an essay”. He emphasized that “ChatGPT is available for anyone who wants to use it, and its impact on jobs would depend on how it’s used”.

Murthy believes that people can use ChatGPT as a base and add their own differentiation, smartness, and tweaking. Therefore, he said that “he is not worried about ChatGPT, as only smart people who add their own creativity and skills will excel“.

He acknowledged that ChatGPT is a helpful tool that he would certainly use. However, he emphasized that it’s an instrument that helps people produce better quality work and won’t replace humans. He stated that the human mind is the most powerful imagination machine, and nothing can beat it.

As the AI race heats up, big and small companies are betting heavily on the technology. However, Murthy’s views suggest that humans shouldn’t feel too threatened by its advancements. He believes that the human mind can accomplish extraordinary things that AI can’t replace.
