NIGERIA. Oyo State: The two Division Nigerian Army Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers have been encouraged by the Commander Infantry corps of the Nigerian Army, Major General Victor Ezeugwu, to always maintain a high level of professionalism and discipline in times of their duties.
He also urged the troops to sustain the existing civil-military relations even during the time of misunderstanding or dispute.
Ezeugwu afterwards, applauded the Nigerian troops for their tenacity, zeal, endurance and patience throughout the competition. He also congratulated the best formation and all the participants for their competitive spirits and encouraged them to do better next time.
I challenged the troops for them to apply the knowledge gained during the competition in their future endeavours. This will assist you people in curtailing the menace of Boko haram terrorist, banditry, kidnapping, herdsmen/farmers clashes, among other vices fuddling the country, Ezeugwu said.
Ezeugwu disclosed this during the closing ceremony of the 2022 two Division Nigerian Army Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers Inter-Brigade Competition in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
He also directed the troops to engage themselves in all forms of training to enable them to be professional in their respective field of endeavour as professionalism is the vision of the Chief of Army Staff and it will also go a long way to better the Nigerian Army.
Also speaking, the General Officer Commanding 2 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Gold Chibuisi pointed out that the motive behind organizing the competition is to ascertain the readiness, capabilities and commitment of the troops to military training and preparedness in the face of contemporary security challenges. And the aim has been successfully achieved.
Chibuisi urged the selected troops to put in their best to attain greater heights in the forthcoming Nigerian Army Inter-Division competition.
Two Division Garrison emerged on top for best formation with 976.5 points, 32 Brigade came second with 953.25 points and 4 Brigade third with 832.75 points. 42 Engineer Brigade came fourth with 708 points and 22 Brigade fifth with 680.5 points.
The event included drills, weapons handling, combat swimming, map reading, combat race and obstacle crossing.
