NIGERIA. Lagos State: At the recently concluded inaugural edition of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Open Kickboxing Championship, held at Police College in Lagos state, the police machine was crowned champion.

The Police Machine team won seven gold medals, seven silver medals, and one bronze medal. The Delta state team finished second with six gold and three silver medals. Edo Black Scorpions finished third with five gold, seven silver, and five bronze medals.

Sunday Dare, the Minister of Sports Development, complimented the IGP, Alkali Baba Usman, for quickly initiating such a fantastic event after the competition. As a result, Dare expresses gratitude to Usman for his sponsorship.

Dare, who was represented by Nkana Mbora of the liaison office in Lagos, praised Usman for partnering with the Kickboxing Federation of Nigeria to create such a great and fulfilling programme (KFN).

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Abubakar Yakubu, Chairman of the Nigeria Police Kickboxing Association, praised Usman’s efforts in creating a venue for police officers to showcase their skills via sport.

“The week-long event which took place from 23rd to 28th of May has over 150 kickboxers cut across 18 states and 12 clubs, KFN Secretary,” Segun Fasesin has said.
