INDIA. Mumbai: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) took decisive action against recently formed offshoots of banned terrorist organizations supported by Pakistan, operating in Jammu and Kashmir. On Tuesday, raids were carried out at five locations in the Anantnag, Shopian, and Pulwama districts of the Kashmir valley.
During these operations, numerous digital devices containing significant incriminating evidence were seized, according to an official statement.
The targeted raids were conducted on the residential premises of individuals associated with the newly-formed offshoots and affiliates of banned Kashmiri terrorist outfits. Additionally, premises belonging to sympathizers and members of these organizations were also searched.
The individuals being investigated are suspected of engaging in activities related to terrorism, violence, and subversion in Jammu and Kashmir.
The NIA believes they may have been involved in the collection and distribution of various illicit materials, including sticky bombs/magnetic bombs, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), funds, narcotic substances, and arms/ammunitions.
The NIA initiated the J&K terror conspiracy case (RC-05/2022/NIA/JMU) on June 21. The case pertains to a physical and online conspiracy by banned terror organizations to carry out a series of violent terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, utilizing tactics such as sticky bombs, IEDs, and small arms.
These Pakistan-backed outfits are also actively engaged in radicalizing local youth and mobilizing over ground workers to disrupt peace and communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir.
NIA investigations have revealed that operatives based in Pakistan are using various social media platforms to spread terror among the people.
Furthermore, drones have been employed to facilitate the delivery of arms/ammunition, explosives, narcotics, and other illicit materials to their agents and cadres operating in the Kashmir valley.
Among the terror outfits currently under investigation are The Resistance Front (TRF), United Liberation Front Jammu & Kashmir (ULFJ&K), Mujahideen Gazwat-ul-Hind (MGH), Jammu & Kashmir Freedom Fighters (JKFF), Kashmir Tigers, PAAF, and others.
These outfits maintain affiliations with major banned terrorist organizations such as Laskhar-e-Toiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM).
