INDIA. Mumbai: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out a series of raids across four districts of Kashmir on Monday, intensifying its efforts to uncover a conspiracy involving newly-formed offshoots of proscribed Pakistan-backed terrorist organizations aiming to destabilize Jammu & Kashmir.

“As part of the crackdown, the residential premises of hybrid terrorists and overground workers associated with the newly formed offshoots and affiliates of the banned terrorist outfits were searched at 12 locations in Kulgam, Bandipora, Shopian, and Pulwama districts. Additionally, premises belonging to sympathizers and members of these organizations were also targeted,” according to an official statement issued by the NIA.

During the raids, a significant quantity of digital devices containing substantial incriminating data was seized. The agency intends to subject these devices to meticulous scrutiny in order to uncover details of the terrorist conspiracy. The NIA had initiated the investigation after registering a suo moto case (RC-05/2022/NIA/JMU) on June 21, 2022.

Among the terror outfits being investigated by the NIA are The Resistance Front (TRF), United Liberation Front Jammu & Kashmir (ULFJ&K), Mujahideen Gazwat-ul-Hind (MGH), Jammu & Kashmir Freedom Fighters (JKFF), Kashmir Tigers, and the People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF).

These organizations have links to Pakistani-backed entities such as “Laskhar-e-Toiba (LeT),” “Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM),” “Hizb-ul-Mujahideen(HM),” “Al-Badr,” and “Al-Qaeda,” all of which have been banned by the Government of India.

The NIA raids targeted the premises of cadres and workers involved in the collection and distribution of sticky bombs/magnetic bombs, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), funds, narcotics, as well as arms and ammunition. These individuals have been engaged in spreading activities related to terror, violence, and subversion in J&K.

Investigations have revealed that operatives based in Pakistan are utilizing social media platforms to propagate terrorism. Drones have also been employed to deliver arms, ammunition, explosives, and narcotics to their operatives and cadres in the Kashmir valley. The ongoing terror conspiracy investigation pertains to the plotting of violent terrorist attacks in J&K by the banned outfits, both in the physical and cyber realms.

The NIA statement further highlighted that these organizations, with support from their Pakistani masters, have been conspiring to commit acts of terror and violence by radicalizing local youth and mobilizing overground workers in order to disrupt peace and harmony in J&K.
