INDIA. Mumbai: The National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla, near Pune, Maharashtra, organized its first-ever marathon as part of its year-long celebrations commemorating its 75 years of existence.
This unique marathon aimed to inspire and motivate participants while showcasing the academy’s top-tier training facilities and rich heritage.
Over 13,500 people from across the country participated in the marathon, providing them with an exclusive glimpse of the NDA’s campus. Participants ranged from the youngest at five years old to the oldest at 96.
The marathon featured various race categories, including a 42-km full marathon, a 21-km half-marathon, and 10-km, 5-km, and 3-km runs, all held concurrently.
The NDA is situated at the foothills of the Sahyadri mountain ranges, covering 7,015 acres of picturesque hills and a large lake. The running track inside the NDA campus forms a scenic 21-km loop, providing runners with a stunning view of the campus.
The marathon celebrated participants from different age groups, both male and female, in various race categories. The NDA is set to complete 75 years of its existence on January 16, 2024.
As part of the year-long celebrations that began on January 16, a range of academic, sports, and adventure activities have been planned and organized.
