INDIA: The day of the Cinema has finally arrived! National Cinema Day returned with ticket pricing just at Rs 99 across all of India. This is the time of year where one can witness the ongoing or latest release at Multiplexes without worrying about the load on their pockets.
The Cinema festive season features over 4,000 movie theatres, including the major companies PVR INOX, Cinepolis, and Movie Time, according to the Multiplex Association of India. Film enthusiasts can take advantage of this special day via BookMyShow, Paytm, and the official websites.
National Cinema Day brings a throng of movie lovers to theatres; at such a time, it becomes difficult to choose which film to watch. Looking at the current releases, which include Bollywood, Tollywood, Kollywood, Hollywood, and Indie featurettes, it appears cinemagoers have loads of varieties.
What to watch on National Cinema Day?
On this National Cinema Day, Bollywood offers multiple options, where we have Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, which has been continuing its dream run since its release on September 7. Helmed by Tamil filmmaker Atlee Kumar, this feature is a perfect match to watch SRK in one of the massiest roles he has ever done before.
Another major Bollywood release that stormed the box office with its debut is Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2. Sequel to record setter Gadar (2001), the Anil Sharma-directed featurette is available with the National Cinema Day offer.
Debuted last week, the Akshay Kumar-starrer Mission Raniganj is also available on the what to watch list. The Tinu Desai directorial is based on the Raniganj Coalfields collapse of 1989 in West Bengal, where Kumar put on the boots of Jaswant Singh Gill, a real-life mining engineer who saved 65 miners trapped in the mine collapse.
Coming to other Bollywood releases, Fukrey 3, OMG 2, and many other flicks fall under the offer. Vivek Agnihotri’s Indie film The Vaccine War, which narrates the true story of Indian scientists’ struggle to develop the first indigenous vaccine, is also the best opportunity to witness on big screens. Brimming with talented actors, the cast features Nana Patekar, Pallavi Joshi, Anupam Kher, Raima Sen, and Sapthami Gowda.
Besides Bollywood, the Tollywood film Skanda, starring Ram Pothineni, and the Kollywood feature Chandramukhi 2, starring Raghava Lawrence and Kangana Ranaut, are also running in theatres. One can also witness Hollywood horror on big screens with The Nun 2 and The Exorcist: Believer.
Note: The National Cinema Day offer of Rs 99 doesn’t apply to premium formats such as recliner seats, IMAX, or 4DX.
