National Awards: Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon Co-Win Best Actress, Allu Arjun Grabs Best Actor

INDIA. New Delhi: The 69th National Film Awards were unveiled during a press conference in New Delhi today, showcasing a notable presence of Hindi films and the prominent inclusion of “RRR.”

The Best Actress accolade was jointly awarded to Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon for their remarkable performances in “Gangubai Kathiawadi” and “Mimi,” respectively.

Meanwhile, Allu Arjun secured the Best Actor title for his outstanding role in the blockbuster “Pushpa: The Rise.” Remarkably, this is the first National Award for all three accomplished actors.

The prestigious Best Film award was bestowed upon “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect.” Pankaj Tripathi, Kriti Sanon’s co-star in “Mimi,” received the Best Supporting Actor honor, while Pallavi Joshi’s role in “The Kashmir Files” earned her the recognition of Best Supporting Actress.

“The Kashmir Files” also clinched the award for Best Film on National Integration. It’s worth noting that both Pankaj Tripathi and Pallavi Joshi have previously been honored with special awards.

“RRR” made a substantial mark by securing multiple awards, including Best Popular Film.

The film also shared the Best Music award, with Kaala Bhairava being named Best Male Playback Singer for the song “Naatu Naatu,” and Shreya Ghoshal winning Best Female Playback Singer.

“Gangubai Kathiawadi” and “Sardar Udham,” which was crowned Best Hindi Film, were both recipients of several awards. Notably, “Gangubai Kathiawadi” clinched the award for Best Screenplay, among other honors. Furthermore, “Shershaah” was honored with a Special Jury award.

The feature film winners were announced by filmmaker Ketan Mehta, the head of the jury.

The illustrious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest cinematic honor, is set to be announced at a later date.

The formal presentation of the National Awards will take place in a ceremony presided over by President Droupadi Murmu later this year.

In the previous year, recipients included Suriya and Ajay Devgn, who jointly won the Best Actor award for their roles in “Soorarai Pottru” and “Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior.” Aparna Balamurali, Suriya’s co-star, was also recognized.
