PAKISTAN. Karachi – The country´s 17-year-old fast bowler, Naseem Shah, warned England if they underestimate him in the coming test series, that it would truly be their loss.
Shah has risen to remarkable heights in international cricket since his debut last year and will remain Pakistan’s key bowler in the three-test series, which starts from 5 August in England.
Last December, during a test series against Sri Lanka, he was the first bowler to achieve a 5 wicket haul. A serious accomplishment for a young man who was (at the time), only 16 years old and moreover it was done in just 311 days.
Shah further added that while he only knows a single English player from the test’s squad, Skipper Joe Root, the team should not take him lightly. “If they treat me like a kid it would be their great loss”, he said to reporters, emphasizing that age doesn’t matter. He claimed that what matters is how he bowls, implying the rival team should consider him a serious competitor.
Pakistan’s team is ready to jet off towards England at the end of June and will be quarantined for 14 days before starting practice in their host country´s bio-secure facilities.
The young Shah is likely to pair with another bowler who made his debut in 2018. The player´s name is Shaheen Shah Afridi and currently plays for Pakistan in all 3 formats.
