INDIA: West Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari demanded the deployment of central forces in the Bengal state to bring control over Mominpur violence. Adhikari writes letters to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and WB Governor La Ganesan expressing his concern.

According to the saffron party leader, the Mamata-led-government is failing to provide protection and is unable to maintain law and order properly. “The State Government has surrendered to the goons who have taken power over the Ekbalpur Police Station,” said Suvendu.

The BJP leader took to his Twitter and wrote, “I have written to Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri @AmitShah Ji & Hon’ble Governor Shri La Ganesan Ji requesting them to urgently deploy Central Forces in the wake of Mominpur violence & ransacking of Ekbalpur Police Station before the Law & Order situation of WB gets out of hand.”

The letter says, “I am compelled to write this letter to you at this hour because the gravity of the situation has prompted this urgency. The Hindu community has come under attack in the Khidirpore Mominpur area of Kolkata on the eve of Lakshmi Puja. Many shops and bikes belonging to Hindus have been vandalised by hooligans and anti-social. The onslaught has similarities to the Panchla violence, which happened in June in the Uluberia area of the Howrah district. At that time, the violence spread across West Bengal, especially in the Nadia & Murshidabad districts.”

The BJP stalwart demonstrated the current situation of WB, “On the eve of Lakshmi Puja, the Hindu community in Kolkata’s Khirdipore Mominpur area has come under attack.” Hooligans and anti-social people have vandalised many Hindu shops and bikes. The onslaught is similar to the Panchla violence, which occurred in the Howrah district’s Uluberia area in June. At the time, the violence had spread throughout West Bengal, particularly in the districts of Nadia and Murshidabad.”

However, the Cold War between the two opposition parties has been raging for quite a long now. The BJP party has pointed allegations against various TMC stalwarts for carrying out corruption and illegal activities inside the state, which is a failure for the ruling government. However, CM Mamata Banerjee managed to keep her party intact and brushed off allegations against her party workers.
