CHAD: As forces from the Multinational Joint Task Force (MJTF) assaulted their stronghold in Lake Chad, 100 militants and 10 commanders of the dreaded Boko Haram terrorists and Islamic States of West Africa Province (ISWAP) were reportedly slain.

According to Colonel Muhammad Dole, the MJTF’s Chief of Military Public Information, the operations were carried out through ‘Operation Lake Sanity,’ in which a combined military force from Nigeria’s Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), as well as troops from the Niger Republic and Cameroon, successfully carried out the attack through well-coordinated air and land operations.

“The troops destroyed the enclaves of the insurgents’ in Zanari, Arina Woje which are considered as the biggest equipment manufacturing centers among other major places in Lake Chad for the past one week of operation,” Dole added.

Dole went on to say that the strike was sparked by credible information gathered by the Joint Task Force that terrorists were operating on Lake Chad Island.

“Items discovered during the raid are sophisticated weapons of varied degree such as 105MM artillery, piece, canoes/boats, motorcycles, bicycles and well improved Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) construction sites among other several items were recovered and destroyed,” Dole disclosed.

Food, fuel, hard drugs, terrorists’ outfits, grinding machines, car fabrication equipment, and military uniforms are among the others. Several persons were also saved during the operation, including women and children.

Dole, on the other hand, scowled and expressed displeasure with how Boko Haram and ISWAP were able to hide such massive equipment as IED factories and vehicle-borne IED factories, which were skilfully designed to avoid assaults and detection by the Airforce.

Meanwhile, 18 soldiers and an officer have been critically injured as a result of the operations and are seeking care at various military medical facilities across the country.

“While three other soldiers and a member of the CJTF have been confirmed killed,” Dole disclosed.

Major-General Abdul-Khalifah Ibrahim, the Force Commander (CF) MJTF, praised his Deputy Sector Commanders, Officers, and Men of the MJTF, especially the CJTF, for their fighting spirit through Dole.

Dole, on the other hand, prayed for the souls of all fallen troops to rest in eternal peace, as well as for the fast recovery of the wounded men.

As a result, Dole urged the troops to go even further by fully eradicating the enemies at their many hideouts in Lake Chad and elsewhere, knowing that they would continue to receive logistical and human support.
