UNITED STATES: To enhance the user experience and streamline its web browser, Edge, Microsoft has announced the removal of several features in the upcoming version release. The company revealed that it will be bidding farewell to five functions with the launch of Edge version 117 (v117), which is currently undergoing beta testing.
The features slated for removal include Math Solver, Picture Dictionary, Citations, Grammar Tools, and Kids Mode. Microsoft stated that these changes are part of an initiative to improve the end-user experience and simplify the overflow menus.
The decision to deprecate these features, according to a beta channel release note, implies that Microsoft will cease further development on them, leaving users without the prospect of future upgrades.
However, users can still expect to utilize these deprecated features until they are officially removed. According to sources, Edge version 117 is anticipated to roll out in the Stable channel during the week of September 14. This update will be available across multiple operating systems, including Windows 10, Windows 11, macOS, and Linux.
Meanwhile, Microsoft’s software endeavors continue as it introduces the ‘Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22631.2262’ to the Beta Channel. This iteration encompasses various enhancements, including a revamped Settings homepage, improved backup and restore functionalities, and more.
Microsoft aims to provide users with a dynamic and personalized experience through the new homepage within Settings. The redesigned homepage will furnish users with a comprehensive overview of their device, convenient access to critical settings, and efficient Microsoft account management.
As technology continually evolves, companies like Microsoft seek to refine their products to cater to users’ changing needs and preferences. The removal of certain features from Edge exemplifies Microsoft’s commitment to optimizing its offerings and ensuring a seamless and user-friendly browsing experience for its customers.
