INDIA: The world of electric vehicles is growing rapidly, and India is quickly becoming one of the biggest players in the game. One of the latest entrants into this market is the MG Comet EV, which was recently launched in the country.

Design and features of the MG Comet EV

The MG Comet EV is based on SAIC-GM-Wuling’s Global Small Electric Vehicle (GSEV) platform, which has been designed specifically for micro-mini electric vehicles. The car is compact and can easily accommodate four individuals, including the driver, even if they are six feet tall.

The design of the car is based on what the company is calling the BICO concept, which essentially means big inside and compact outside.

Performance and range of the MG Comet EV

The MG Comet EV’s permanent magnet synchronous motor, which has a maximum output of 42 PS and a maximum twisting force of 110 Nm, is one of its most striking attributes.

It is connected to a 17.3 kWh lithium-ion battery with an ARAI-stated 230 km range on a single full charge. In real-world conditions, it is expected to provide a range of 170-180km.

Smart-tech features of the MG Comet EV

The car also comes with a host of smart-tech features that include a fully digital 10.25-inch instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and i-Smart technology, which offers over 55 features.

The car has three drive modes and three regeneration modes, allowing the driver to choose between eco-friendly or performance-focused driving.

Pricing and availability of the MG Comet EV

The MG Comet EV has been priced competitively, making it the most affordable electric car in the country at Rs 7.98 lakh (ex-showroom). This price point has garnered a lot of attention and raised expectations for the car’s sales.

Bookings for the MG Comet EV will start on May 15, and deliveries will commence in May in select markets.

Safety features of the MG Comet EV

Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, a reverse parking camera, rear parking sensors, an indirect tyre pressure monitoring system, three-point seat belts for every passenger, ISOFIX rear child seat anchors, and impact sensing door unlock are just a few additional crucial safety features that MG made sure to include in the vehicle. The car’s battery is IP67-rated, making it resistant to water and dust.

Charging cost of the MG Comet EV

Another impressive aspect of the MG Comet EV is its charging cost, which the company claims can be as low as Rs 519 per 1,000km. This low charge is expected to appeal to many prospective buyers and will help drive sales.

In conclusion, the MG Comet EV is an impressive electric car that offers a lot of features, good performance, and an affordable price point. It is expected to compete with other micro-mini electric cars on the market and could potentially disrupt the electric car market in India.

With the increasing popularity of electric vehicles in the country, the MG Comet EV is poised to make a big impact and could potentially become a game-changer in the Indian automotive industry.
