MAURITIUS: The little wonder island, Mauritius, home to sandy white beaches and sparkling emerald-green waters for romantic beach holidays recently reopened from 15 July 2021, of course with COVID-19 related riders. In the first phase, a negative PCR test report not older than five-seven days before departure will be required, and the visitor will also have to take a PCR test on arrival at the airport. Phase-II will start from 1 October 2021 and will allow vaccinated travelers to enter Mauritius without restrictions upon presentation of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours before departure.
The hospitality industry has welcomed the move and has adorned new looks, and is offering exciting offers for travelers.
LUX* Grand Gaube Resort & Villas has also planned perfect immersive experiences to engage their guests with romantic rendezvous, family bonding, or a getaway with friends. From 15th July, they are welcoming vaccinated travelers for in-resort stays, with access to their beautiful beach and lagoon. The resort offers a fly-and-flop concept with tons of activities to keep the vacationer entertained.
LUX* Grand Gaube Resort & Villas offers luxurious guest rooms, exotic dining establishments and upbeat bars, 14 hectares of open space that is home to over 240,000 honeybees where they produce honey to be used in the menus of the resort’s restaurants and bars, as well as in wellness treatments at LUX* Me Spa, where a vacationer can take his time off to start a new routine to experiment, relax, learn something new and heal.
Tamassa Bel Ombre offers- ‘Together You’ll Love Experiences’ that is an out-of-the-ordinary all-Inclusive package so that a traveler can enjoy the best of experiences. In a wonderful island that defines itself in superlatives, Tamassa Bel Ombre certainly has what it takes to stand out in a crowd.
Tamassa also offers an escape to the idyllic private island, Ile Des Deux Cocos, their private island, for a day on the house, if you book a stay for October onwards with them between 1 July & 30 September 2021. The traveler can spend a day snorkeling in a protected marine reserve at the island, followed by a beach barbecue with freshly caught seafood. He/she can relish sipping on homemade infused rum cocktails and explore The Villa, the islet’s historical landmark once home to the British governor, Sir Hesketh Bell, built in the 1920s.
Interaction with Julian Hagger, Executive Vice President of The Lux Collective
“Life can be all-consuming. Technology has all of us constantly in demand, continuously plugged in, and increasingly stressed out. What suffers most are relationships – we spend less time with those most deserving our time and when we do, we’re rarely truly present. Tamassa was conceived to help our guests reconnect with their closest and dearest during their precious holiday,” said Julian Hagger to The Transcontinental Times.
Hagger confidently predicts a strong rebound for Mauritius once international travel restrictions are eased. He says, “We are very fortunate to operate in destinations where local authorities have taken very prudent and outstanding approaches to manage the corona crisis. Mauritius has been lauded as an exemplary example in the Indian Ocean, having managed to limit the spread of the virus, safeguard their population, and has conceptualised a solid plan in place to reopen in phases. This reflects positively on the governments and leadership with whom we are proud to be associated.”
He further says, “Under our Collective Care policy, enhanced sanitisation and hygiene protocol has been implemented in our hotels since the start of the pandemic, and we continually update and improve as per recommendations from the local health authorities, as well as from the World Health Organisation.”
Looking forward, he believes now people will travel more consciously, and look for quality, and not quantity. People will seek out experiences that connect them more deeply to the local culture and destination whilst being more sensitive to the ecological footprint they leave behind.
He spoke about their marketing approach and said, “We still believe in a 360 approach in reaching our guests and word of mouth is vitally important. We have a lot of loyal fans who return year on year and their testimonials speak about their experiences.” Further considering the current volatile situation, if their guests are unable to travel due to COVID, they are extending their complimentary cancellation and rebooking policies to make their guests feel confident when booking directly with them.
He personally believes that 2021 is the year of vaccination and adapting to the new normal, learning to live with coronavirus, and adapting our lifestyles to ensure we continue living life fully whilst taking extra precautions. He expects tourism to bounce back more robustly by year-end once more countries vaccinate 90% of their population and hopefully, the industry will fully return to normal by end of 2022.
