INDIA. Mumbai: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested two sisters and a British national and recovered a whopping 200 kg of Marijuana, one of the largest such seizures in recent times, after raiding a residential place at Khar West in northwest Mumbai on Saturday, January 09, 2021.

The trio had sourced the contraband-imported strains of marijuana like “OG Kush” and curated marijuana from the USA and local areas for selling it to high-class clients in Mumbai and other states of the country, in the pre-rolled joints.

An offence ( No. 03/2021) has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, against the accused-Karan Sajnani (British National), Rahila Furniturewala and her sister Shaista Furniturewala, NCB Mumbai Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede told the “Transcontinental Times”.

Initially, based on the specific information, NCB sleuths affected a seizure of marijuana from one courier at Bandra (west). In the follow-up operations, a huge stash of imported strains of marijuana was recovered from Karan Sajnani, from his residence at “Jaswant Heights”. On further revelation by Sajnani, marijuana and bud were recovered from Rahila.

Furniturewala who is also suspect in the investigation of case ( No. 16/2020 of Mumbai Zonal Unit, linked to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in June last year.

Rahila is a former manager of an actress, while Sajnani is a businessman who has been staying in Mumbai for the past one and half years. The investigation to find out how the accused brought the marijuana is on.

In another incident, on Tuesday, the anti-Narcotics Cell of Mumbai Police had nabbed three persons from Vikhroli in North East Mumbai and had seized 106kg marijuana worth Rs 21 lakh. The contraband was seized from a tempo, which the accused had brought to pass it on to local agents. The accused-Israt Siddiqui, Anand Tawde, and Afroz Siddiqui alias Mammu have already been remanded to police custody.
