MALAWI. Pop star Madonna spent her new year holidays visiting Malawi, the home of her four adopted children.

Madonna who is commonly known as “Madge” visited a district called Mchinji located in the western part of Malawi, which borders Zambia. It is where David Banda the eldest of the adopted children comes from.

“It feels good to visit Lipunga and reconnecting with David’s father and extended family,” she posted on her official Facebook page.

State House Visit

As part of her visit to the southern African country, the ‘American pie’ star held an audience with the country’s president Lazarus Chakwera.

Details of their meeting remain sketchy but both Madonna and Chakwera’s official communication channels referred the meeting as discussing the ‘ future of Malawi’.

Detention at Paedriatic Ward

On January 2nd, the American pop star silently visited Mercy James Pediatric Hospital which was built with funds from her Raising Malawi Project on 2nd January.

Some journalists from privately-owned media houses were detained by her security personnel. They were released after two hours. Apart from the Paedriatic hospital, Madonna had plans of constructing a girl’s academy, a project that hasn’t yet taken off.
