INDIA: In an unexpected condition, a 21-year-old youth and a student of LPU, studying in the first year of B. Design, committed suicide. This gave rise to mass protests outside the campus of Lovely Professional University, located at Phagwara near Jalandhar in Punjab.
The student left a suicide note which was recovered after his demise, which says the guy mentioned that he committed suicide affected to some personal reasons.
However, actual reasons are still unknown, but by the time Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Jaspreet Singh gave a statement on this incident, “We received information about the suicide of the first-year student at the university at around 5.30 pm on September 20 following which a police team rushed to the varsity for investigation and sealed the spot. This is a very unfortunate incident and a huge loss to educational society.”
Talking about the suicide note, the Dy commissioner said, “We have found a suicide note from the spot in which the student cited some personal reason behind his extreme step. We have informed the family of the deceased, and they will be reaching here soon. Further investigation into the matter is underway.”
An official statement about the incident was released by the college authorities via Twitter; they expressed their grief by writing, “LPU fraternity is saddened by the unfortunate incident. The initial investigations by the Police and the contents of the suicide note point towards personal issues of the deceased. The University is providing full support to the authorities for further investigation. The University mourns the loss of the student and expresses its condolence to the bereaved family.”
Meanwhile, hours after the mishap, students gathered and shouted the ‘we want justice’ slogan, seeking a proper probe into the incident. This entire incident came after the Chandigarh University protect, where a female student was caught allegedly recording ‘uncomfortable’ videos of her hostel mates and allegedly sharing them with her boyfriend. A huge protest broke out after the incident came to light; even some students confirmed that many girls committed suicide after their videos got leaked.
