INDIA: A 44 member contingent of the Indian Air Force reached Changi International Airport in Singapore on Saturday to participate in the ‘Singapore Air Show-2022’ being held from February 15 to February 18.
The Singapore Air Show is a biennial event that showcases the products of the global aviation industry.
IAF’s participation at the Singapore Air Show
The Indian Air Force (IAF) will be pitching the indigenous Tejas MK-I ac alongside participants from across the world. The Tejas aircraft will be enthralling the audience with its display of low-level aerobatics displaying its superior handling characteristics and maneuverability.
“The participation of IAF in the Air Show provides India with the opportunity to showcase the Tejas aircraft and interact with counterparts from RSAF (Royal Singapore Air Force) and other participating contingents,” a Defence spokesman said.
The Singapore air show is where aviation’s finest meet. It is one of the iconic air shows around the world. It is expected to expose Canadian companies to the Asian market. The show is considered the greatest platform in Asia bringing the aerospace community together.
The Asia-Pacific region accounts for 35% of the world’s commercial aircraft fleet and Asia is the largest growing aerospace market in the world and the trend line is firm. The key industry players including Lufthansa are participating in the air show.

The military segment: Operator-Indian Air Force, Aircraft-HAL Tejas LCA, Performance type-Solo, Indonesian Air Force Jupiter Aerobatic Team- Aircraft- KT-1B, Performance type-Team. Republic of Singapore Air Force-Aircraft-F 16C, Performance-Solo, and AH-64D-Performance- team, United States Air Force-Aircraft-B52, Performance-Solo, and United States Marine Corps-Aircraft-F-35 B, Performance-Solo.
The Civil segment: Aircraft-Airbus-A350-1000, Performance-Solo and Boeing-377-9, Performance-Solo.
In the air show -2020, over 30,000 trade representatives from 110 countries participated. Besides 117 delegations from 36 countries and regions participated and 871 exhibitor-delegation meetings were held. However, the show was slightly disrupted following the COVID-19 virus.
The Indian Air Force has participated in similar Air Shows like LIMA-2019 in Malaysia and Dubai Air Show-2021 to exhibit indigenous aircraft and formations in the past.
