Coca-Cola Appoints Debra Mallowah As Vice President For East & Central Africa

KENYA. Nairobi: The global beverage giant Coca-Cola has appointed Debrah Mallowah, a Kenyan woman as the Vice President for East and Central Africa. Bruno Pietracci, the company’s president for Africa announced the news on February 22.

Before joining Coca-Cola, Mallowah used to work in a Kenyan telecom firm named Safaricom as a Business Development Officer. The Kenyan was optimistic as she took up the new role.

Talking about the new opportunity, Mallowah said, “A lot has changed around the environment we operate in especially in the last year driven by the ongoing pandemic, but there are many growth opportunities for the Coca- Cola business and that is my focus.’

“She is a highly accomplished leader,” said Pietracci about Mallowah. Pietracci is among few African women who hold a leadership position at a major multinational company.

Mallowah will oversee Coca-Cola’s activities across 27 East and Central African countries.

Mallowah holds a degree in Bachelor of Commerce, Business Management and Marketing from the University of Nairobi.

Before joining Safaricom, Mallowah was a General Manager at GlaxoSmithKline from 2016 to 2019.

Mallowah has also served as a Vice President and Innovative Director at Unilever.

Coca-Cola has over 500 brands and a variety of over 3,900 beverages.

Around 29 percent of the company’s revenue comes from Europe,Middle East and Africa.
