Kantara Review: Rishab Shetty’s Film Gives a Divine Experience

INDIA: Rishab Shetty’s Kantara arrived on big screens on September 30, 2022, and since then, it has cast magic on the viewers that remain unmatched for all the recent releases. The makers of KGF have delivered another gem from the Kannada film industry, which leaves a deep impact on the audience. 

Rishab Shetty’s vision and talented star cast propel the film

Kantara marks the directorial magic of Rishab Shetty. The actor doesn’t stop at adding his creative vision to the film; he also dominates the screen with his brilliant acting skills and the action sequences.

In addition to acting and directing, Rishab Shetty has also penned the story of Kantara that teleports us to the beautiful and divine world. Given his contribution to all three creative pillars of filming, the Kannada star has proven himself as a talent powerhouse. 

Kishore Kumar G, as Deputy Range Forest Officer, gives a strong performance. The actor has phenomenally played the role which at the beginning gives us a vibe that he is the main antagonist, but as the movie progresses, we get a clear view of the man pulling the strings from shadows.

Sapthami Gowda, Pramod Shetty, Achyuth Kumar, and many more talented stars have given their best in their respective roles. The star cast has portrayed their part so perfectly that we don’t feel that we are looking at actors; it is like we are witnessing the villagers indulging in their daily lives. 

Kantara accurately depicts Bhoota Kola in a brilliant manner, serving as the film’s beating heart. As the movie ends, it deeply impacts us, generating our interest to know more about the culture and rituals.

Arvind S. Kashyap has handled the cinematography of Kantara, which presents every detail of the film in a vibrant atmosphere. He has phenomenally captured all the essence of the forest depicted in the movie, which showers the beauty of nature on us. Every frame intricately showcases a living painting on the screen. 

Above all, there comes the climax scene, which ultimately forms the soul of Kantara. Rishabh Shetty gives an impactful performance that cannot be described in words. National Award is guaranteed for his role, though the movie itself deserves the prestigious award. B. Ajaneesh Loknath’s music also tunes in, elevating the scene and giving us goosebumps. 

The box office triumph of Kantara

Given all the elements of Kantara, it has proven to be a magnet factor that pulled a huge number of audiences. According to multiple media reports, the film is made on a budget of ₹ 16 crores and managed to globally collect ₹ 181.56 crores. The film now accelerates towards a ₹ 200 crore mark. The Hindi collection of the film also raked up ₹ 17.05 crores on its 8th day of release. 

With all the box office milestones, Kantara has managed to join the list of the highest-grossing Kannada film of 2022. The film landed at the second spot on the list. The film also became the third highest-grossing Kannada film of all time. 

The feature didn’t stop at the box office success; it has also emerged as the highest-rated Indian film on IMDB with a rating of 9.3/10. 

Verdict: 

Encasing all the milestone elements with Rishab Shetty’s vision, Kantara lands as the perfect cinematic film which only needs to be experienced on big screens.
