NIGERIA. Kaduna State: The Kaduna State governor, Malam Nasiru El-Rufai has tasked president Mohammadu Buhari to assist with improved military intervention to combat continuous rises of armed banditry, Boko Haram, kidnapping and communal clashes in the state and the country as a whole. El-Rufai made the plea during Buhari’s visit to the state for commissioning the completed projects by the Kaduna state government.
El-Rufai added that his government has in its own way spent a huge amount of money to complement the effort of the federal agencies in combating banditry in the state for the safety of all.
My government has come up with a number of groundbreaking initiatives such as Safe City, Vigilance Service project and Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs to aid community security activities in the state, El-Rufai said.
We believe that further military action and more boots on the ground are needed to stop the terrorists that menace our people, the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, El-Rufai said.
Road projects
El-Rufai also hinted to Buhari of Kaduna state government’s achievement recorded of road constructions through the help of president Buhari’s project initiation ‘Tax Credit Scheme’.
El-Rufai requested for the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing’s intervention to complete some major road projects linking Kaduna state to Zamfara, Katsina and Niger state and the federal capital territory Abuja, before the commencement of the rainy season.
Other major projects include the Kaduna International Airport leading to the Kaduna-Zaria highway.
Buhari hails Kaduna State Govt on the fight against terrorism
In his speech, President Buhari applauded the effort of the Kaduna State government on its resilience in the fight against all forms of insecurity and further assured the state government of its utmost support and commitment to bring lasting solutions to the problem of insecurity in the state and in Nigeria.
Buhari praised the relationship between the Kaduna State and the security agencies as the establishment of a ministry dedicated to combating internal security.
The president also assured the people and government of Kaduna State that the Federal Government is doing its utmost to contain and crush the terrorists that have been menacing our citizens and their property in parts of the country.
Buhari, on behalf of the Federal Government, commended the efforts of the Kaduna State Government and assured the state of its swift response to their demands.
