Kabul Lecturer And One Other Killed In IED blast

AFGHANISTAN. Kabul: Following the recent wave of targeted killings and magnetic bombs in the capital Kabul, Mubashir Muslimyar, a lecturer at Kabul University, and a civilian was killed in the IED blast in Kabul.

Local sources report that Abdula-Mahroof Rasekh, another lecturer of Kabul University was also among the dead people. The security officials haven’t confirmed the report yet.

The police told reporters that the explosion targeted a vehicle in Kabul’s PD3. They added that one other person was killed in the blast. Meanwhile, no group has claimed the responsibility for the incident.

Muslimyar was the lecturer at the Sharia-Law faculty of the University. He was recently arrested by the Afghanistan national security for ‘Operating in support of the Daesh(ISIS)’.

On November 3, 2020, Daesh killed more than 30 students inside the Kabul university.

Finding by Afghan TOLO news shows that up to 340 people were either killed or wounded in security incidents in Afghanistan since the start of February. The incidents happened mainly due to magnetic IEDs, roadside bombs, and targeted killings.

According to the findings, 168 people were killed and 172 more were wounded.   

Since the beginning of intra-Afghan peace talks last September, the wave of violence, particularly targeted killings, IED blasts, and attacks has dramatically increased.    

The survey finds that since February 1, 49 mine explosions, 37 unclaimed armed attacks, and three-car bombs by the Taliban against security forces occurred.
