INDIA: Another blast shook Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district within eight hours, this time at the old bus stand in Udhampur. The terrible incident took place around 6 am, but no casualties or injuries have been reported yet, the police official said.
In the recent past, an empty bus parked at a petrol pump in Udhampur city blasted off, leaving behind two injured. The incident broke out at Domail chowk around 10:45 pm.
The blast tampered vehicles parked around, and the injured were rushed to Udhampur District Hospital. However, the incident was brought under control by cops and security personnel.
Suleman Choudhary, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, said, “The blast occurred around 10:30 pm. Two people have been injured in the incident, and vehicles parked nearby have also suffered damage. The reason for the blast is still not known. We are investigating the matter.”
The entire incident is captured in CCTV footage, which even shows two people who sustained minor injuries during the explosion.
Additional director general of police Mukesh Singh, talking about the last incident, clarified, “two people sustained minor injuries. Another similar blast occurred in another bus parked at 6:00 a.m. today [Thursday], with no casualties reported.”
Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is looking into the entire case, but a previously unknown group calling itself the Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Fighters has claimed responsibility for the attack.
They posted a letter on social media, admitting that the attack was carried out to target “non-locals.” Further, the “Hindutva regime” was trying its best to change the demography of J&K “in the guise of pilgrimage” and warned “non-locals” used “as cannon fodder by this Hindutva regime” not to visit the disputed territory.
