INDIA. Karnataka: The brutal murder of Digambar Jain monk Acharya Sri Kamakumara Nandi Maharaj in Karnataka has sparked outrage. The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has criticized the ruling Congress party in the state, accusing them of implementing “anti-Hindu” policies.
The monk was killed due to a dispute over money. Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the murder, with one of them being a devotee of Nandi Maharaj.
The police made a gruesome discovery when they found the monk’s body parts brutally chopped and dumped in a borewell. The investigation was initiated after a missing person report was filed. The two arrested individuals, identified as Narayana Basappa Madi and Hassan Dalayath, allegedly committed the crime because they were unable to repay a loan of ₹6 lakh that was lent by the Jain saint.
VHP General Secretary Milind Parande referred to the criminals as “jihadis” in his statement, expressing concern over the safety of saints and seers in the state. He criticized the Congress-led government, stating that “Islamic jihadis and extremists” were freely roaming while religious figures were not safe. Parande attributed the incident to the alleged anti-Hindu policies of the state government.
Parande further mentioned that the audacity of “dharma-drohi” (anti-religion) and anti-national forces has increased due to discussions by the state government about removing anti-cow slaughter and anti-conversion laws. He claimed that due to the government’s policies, neither sadhus (saints) nor the society in Karnataka are safe, with only Islamic jihadis and extremists enjoying freedom.
The murder of the Jain monk has sparked outrage and demands for severe punishment for the perpetrators. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
