ISRAEL: In the midst of the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict, a troubling message from Hamas Commander Mahmoud al-Zahar has emerged, in which he articulates his group’s ambitions for global dominance.
A video clip lasting more than a minute, featuring the senior Hamas official, has gained significant attention on the internet. In the recording, he asserts that Israel is merely the first target, and their aim is to extend their influence across the world.
This alarming statement comes as Israel has initiated a conflict with Hamas following a surprise attack that resulted in the loss of hundreds of Israeli lives.
In the video, Zahar said, “Israel is only the first target. The entire planet will be under our rule.”
“The entire 510 million square kilometres of Planet Earth will be subject to a system devoid of injustice, oppression, and the kind of violence and crimes witnessed against Palestinians and Arabs in various Arab countries, including Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and others,” he continued.
Shortly after the video surfaced, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement in which he reiterated his dedication to the ongoing battle against Hamas, affirming that every member of the Palestinian organisation was a target.
In a brief televised speech, he said, “Hamas is equivalent to Daesh (the Islamic State group), and we will dismantle them just as the world did with Daesh.”
Meanwhile, Hamas members who are holding Israeli soldiers and civilians as captives have made a menacing threat to execute one hostage for every Gaza home struck by Israel without prior warning. There was no confirmation at the time that Hamas was executing this threat.
In response to the intensifying crisis, Israel has established an emergency unity government, with Prime Minister Netanyahu leading a war cabinet alongside former Defence Minister Benny Gantz.
This situation unfolds as the Israeli military escalates its operations in Gaza with the objective of eliminating the Palestinian group Hamas before considering the possibility of a ground offensive in the Palestinian coastal enclave.
Drawing a comparison between Hamas and ISIS, Netanyahu underscored some of the horrific acts carried out in recent attacks, such as the burning of individuals alive. He emphasised that almost every Israeli family has a connection with a victim of these attacks.
Netanyahu declared, “We will unite to protect our homeland,” and he thanked world leaders for their “unprecedented” support of Israel. “We are on the offensive… Every Hamas member is a target,” he said.
Netanyahu concluded by underscoring that all of Israel supports its soldiers and that Israel will prevail.
Benny Gantz declared, “We are one; we are all enlisted in this fight. There’s only one camp, the camp of the Nation of Israel.”
“All of Israel is under Order Number 8 (the order sent to reservists for an emergency wartime call-up),” Gantz stated.
