INDIA.JHARKHAND: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the pledge to unveil the much-awaited International Airport at Deoghar, Jharkhand. Chief Minister (CM) of Jharkhand Hemant Soren along with Union aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia took part in this event.
CM Hemant expressed his happiness by saying, “The dream of this airport which was envisioned in 2010 has been fulfilled by PM Modi. It’s a matter of pride for us. PM invested more than Rs 16,800 crores for the development in Deoghar which comprised the inauguration of an international airport and an In-Patient Department (IPD) and Operation Theatre services at AIIMS in Deoghar. Back then, there were only seven AIIMS in 2014.”
During the last eight years, 16 AIIMS have been approved. Out of these 16 AIIMS, 10 of them have already started with their admissions and a few of them are fully functional as well. Limited IPD services have also been operationalised in six AIIMS.
Modi Laid the stepping stone of Deoghar airport in Jharkhand on May 25, 2018. This is the second airport in Jharkhand after Ranchi. The construction of two more airports for the state is underway in Dumka and Bokaro.
Talking about developments, the PM said, “These projects may have been launched in Jharkhand, but will also give a boost to Bihar and West Bengal. In the last eight years, we have worked towards developing the state. Thirteen highway projects have been launched today.”
Under the Regional Connectivity UDAN scheme, more than 420 routes have enlisted since June 2022. More than 1.79 lakh planes have taken flights under this scheme. UDAN scheme has immensely benefited several sectors in pan-India including the Hilly States, North-Eastern region, and Islands.
Ensuring high alert security, Deoghar is fully decked up for this renowned event. Talking about the newly inaugurated airport, it cost nearly around Rs. 400 crores. The terminal building of the airport is equipped to handle over five lakh passengers annually.
