INDIA: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 has been suspended for an indefinite time. In an open statement, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla confirmed the news. By Tuesday, around four players have tested COVID-19 positive. The decision of IPL suspension was taken after Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) wicket keeper batsman, Wriddhiman Saha tested positive. Australian journalist Peter Lalor revealed the news on Twitter adding that the entire SRH team is now in isolation.

On Monday, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) players Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier also tested positive for COVID-19 inside the bio-bubble. Due to this, KKR’s IPL match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) was called off on Monday. As per the reports, Varun Chakravarthy went to a physiotherapist (outside the bio-bubble) for an injury and might have contracted COVID-19 infection from there . Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji and CEO K Vishwanathan have also tested positive.
