INDIA: International Men’s Day is celebrated on November 19 to bring issues to light about the well-being of men and to feature their financial, social, and political accomplishments.
The day encourages men to become positive role models by recognizing the positive value they bring to the world.
Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh observed the day for the first time in 1999. Teelucksingh was a professor of history at the University of West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago.
Uma Challa, a mother of two who advocates for Indian men, has also played a significant role in popularising the day. She is the founder of several organizations. She celebrated International Men’s Day in India for the first time in 2007. She was, however, oblivious about the origin of the date of celebrating International Men’s Day.
Ms. Challa wanted to emphasize the exploitation of some men due to the alleged bias by commemorating the day.
“Helping men and boys” is the theme for International Men’s Day in 2022. The theme aims to promote men’s well-being and recognize their positive contributions to families, communities, and the world.
Men play various crucial roles in their lives, whether they are husbands, brothers, sons, or fathers. These men are honoured on International Men’s Day, which allows them to highlight the challenges they face.
It aims to promote men’s spiritual, emotional, physical, and social well-being. However, the day is not just about honouring men; it also aims to promote gender equality while improving gender relations.
Simple but sweet gestures, such as wishing the men you care about well and expressing gratitude to those who have cared for you, can make the day memorable for the men around us.
Additionally, celebrating men and their accomplishments is a touching act of showing men that their actions are appreciated.
