Pixar unveiled more updates about Inside Out 2 on Twitter. The tweet read, “Oh JOY! Amy Poehler is back to star in Inside Out 2. Directed by Kelsey Mann, produced by Mark Nielsen, and written by Meg LeFauve, Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out 2 releases in Summer 2024.’’
Amy Pohler is set to return as Joy for Inside Out 2. Kelsey Mann, known for The Good Dinosaur (2015) will direct the upcoming animated feature. Mark Nielsen will bankroll the film and Meg LeFauve will pen the story.
Inside Out 2 is set to debut in theatres in Summer 2024. The exact release date has yet to be revealed, but the release year suggests that fans will have to wait a little longer to witness their favourite animated feature. The first film was released in June 2015, and given the sequel’s release date, there is a 9-year gap between both features.
The large gap between sequels is nothing new for Disney and Pixar’s films. Incredibles 2 and Toy Story 4 both made their theatrical debuts after a lengthy hiatus from their previous instalments.
Peter Docter’s directorial Inside Out, was widely praised by fans and critics due to its deep philosophical message. Pixar’s animated movie also bagged an Academy Award in the Best Animated Feature Film category. The film currently has an IMDB rating of 8.2/10. On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie has 98 per cent of critics’ ratings and 89 per cent of audience ratings.
In addition to Inside Out 2, Disney and Pixar also announced a new animated movie Elio, the first series Win or Lose, and the animated romance feature Elemental.
