INDIA: The Probe is an independent, ad-free news media platform founded by Indian investigative journalist Prema Sridevi. Noted for two decades of her reportage and work with some of India’s top television news channels, Prema Sridevi quit mainstream media to pursue her dream to transform the way news is told and heard.

The Probe’s mission is to apply the conscience of brakes on the breaking news aspect of Journalism and tell stories that matter to people credibly and responsibly. The Probe is one of India’s first such digital news media platforms that has highlighted the importance of the need to UnBreak the news to the audience.

With an innovative and engaging website that is completely ad-free and only dependent on people’s memberships (subscription model), The Probe has built a community that is well-informed, empowered, and values the idea of Impact Journalism. The community is only growing in India as more people have begun to prefer journalism that is factual and impactful over debates and sensationalist aspects of news. 

Investigations, Solutions, Impact, and Development are at the core of the organization’s journalistic goals. A team of young, dynamic, and emerging journalists run The Probe’s newsroom out of Delhi NCR region in India.

“We at The Probe believe that Journalism has a larger social purpose, and that is Impact. I personally believe that the power of Journalism must be used as a tool for social change. We are not aligned to any corporate or political entities and we have announced that our news platform is going to be completely Ad-Free. We will only survive through subscriptions from paying members and from individuals who collaborate with us on social impact projects. This I am sure will make our Journalism more transformative and reformative,” said Prema Sridevi, The Probe’s founding Editor-in-Chief.

Digital news subscriptions in India have seen a clear rise in recent years, which is indicative of the fact that people in India give value to the content that is well-researched and fact-based.

The Probe, in its brand manifesto, has stated that they hope to engage members in their Journalistic process. Their online news platform will be live from today and their stories can be watched, read, and listened to on their website.
