INDIA. Delhi: The Full Dress Rehearsal for the Republic Day Parade of India was conducted today morning. The rehearsals started at 9.50 am from Vijay Chowk and proceeded to the National Stadium.
India is celebrating its 72nd Republic Day this year. The Constitution of India came into force on 26 January in 1950 and the first Republic Day Parade was held on this day. The Republic Day parade is the largest and most important of all the parades. It is the main attraction of India’s Republic Day celebrations, which last for 3 days beginning on 23 January with the full dress rehearsals. 23 January, in fact, is also celebrated as Parakram Diwas on the occasion of the birthday of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
The main Republic Day celebrations will take place in Delhi on January 26, at Rajpath, before the President of India. The parade on this day showcases the strength, unity, and diversity of India and is India’s main attraction for the Republic Day celebrations. The parade begins with the unfurling of the national flag by the President of India. Various regiments of the army, navy, and air force, along with their bands then march from the Rashtrapati Bhawan along the Rajpath to the India Gate and continue up to the Red Fort. Tableaus from various states signifying their culture are displayed and entertain the spectators.
