INDIA. Mumbai: The second edition of the Mumbai Heritage Run, organized by the Western Naval Command of the Indian Navy, saw a remarkable turnout of over 6500 enthusiastic runners from various age groups and backgrounds.
The event, held at Ballard Pier and the Fort area of South Mumbai, resonated with the enduring charm of cultural heritage and a shared commitment to a healthy lifestyle.
Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command (FOC-in-C, WNC), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and flagged off the 10K “Varuna run.”
Rear Admiral AV Bhave, Flag Officer of the Defence Advisory Group (FODAG), initiated the 5K “Samudra run.” The principal Race Management Partner for the event was M/s Fitpage.
Reflecting the diverse spirit of Mumbai, participants spanning different generations and areas of the city came together to celebrate the allure of the past while embracing a promising future.
The event featured two runs: a 10K run and a 5K run, each divided into three categories for men and women – above 60 years, 46-60 years (Veteran), and 18-45 years (open).
Male winners were honored by FOC-in-C, WNC, and other Flag officers, while female winners were felicitated by Mrs. Shashi Tripathi, President of the Navy Wives Welfare Association (NWWA), and other ladies from the naval community.
Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi expressed his satisfaction with the successful execution of the second edition of the Mumbai Heritage Run.
During the event, he unveiled the logo of the Indian Navy Half Marathon scheduled for November, reaffirming the Indian Navy’s dedication to preserving India’s rich cultural heritage and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Acknowledging the collective effort that made the Heritage Run 2023 a triumph, the statement emphasized the indispensable contributions of volunteers, partners, the Mumbai Police, and BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation).
Their unwavering commitment and zeal were instrumental in ensuring the smooth and effective organization of the event.
