UNITED STATES: US President-elect Joe Biden has nominated Dr. Vivek Murthy to serve as the Surgeon General of the country. The renowned Indian-American physician will be a key contributor to Biden’s COVID-19 health team. He was previously affirmed by the Senate to serve in a similar limit, holding the post as ‘America’s Doctor’ between 2014 and 2017.

Murthy had served as Surgeon General of the US during the Obama administration in the past. However, he had to leave when Donald Trump became the President. Murthy was also a former Vice Admiral in the Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, a distinguished physician and research scientist.
A trusted public voice on medical problems and a long-lasting counsel to Biden, he right now fills in as co-chair of the President-elect’s COVID-19 change Advisory Board.
Along with Murthy, Dr. Anthony Fauci has also been included in the team. Fauci has been named the Chief Medical Advisor to the President on COVID-19 while Dr. Rochelle Walensky has been named as Director of the centers for Diseases Control and Prevention.
“This trusted and accomplished team of leaders will bring the highest level of integrity, scientific rigor, and crisis-management experience to one of the toughest challenges America has ever faced – getting the pandemic under control so that the American people can get back to work, back to their lives, and back to their loved ones,” Biden said during the team announcement.
He added that this group of a-list clinical specialists and community workers will be prepared on the very first moment to activate each asset of the government to grow testing and concealing. The team will work hard to expand affordable health care to all Americans.
