INDIA: After their amazing 16-run victory in the second game on Sunday in Guwahati, the Indian cricket team has already secured a 2-1 victory over South Africa in the three-match Twenty20 International Series.
Since they don’t get to watch much live cricket, every match is incredibly important to Indian passionate fans, even if the final game is a dead rubber.
The team management opted to rest both Virat Kohli and KL Rahul from the final Twenty20 International match in Indore on October 4, Tuesday, to prepare for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. The World Cup will begin in Australia in just a few weeks.
While Team India wants to defeat South Africa 3-0, they don’t want to endanger the fitness of Kohli or KL Rahul, who have each struck back-to-back fifty-sevens in this series. A BCCI official stated, “Kohli has been rested for the last T20I.”
After Jasprit Bumrah was formally ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022, captain Rohit Sharma may try out Mohammed Siraj in this final T20I against South Africa.
Siraj, Mohammed Shami, and Deepak Chahar are the front-runners to take Bumrah’s slot in the World Cup roster.
In Rahul’s absence, either Suryakumar Yadav or “birthday boy” Rishabh Pant may be asked to open the batting alongside captain Rohit in Indore.
The opening slot in today’s game may be filled with either Rishabh Pant or Suryakumar Yadav. Moreover, India will look to experiment with their team slightly as they already won the series by winning two straight games.
India (probable): Rohit Sharma (capt), Rishabh Pant (wk), Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Axar Patel, Dinesh Karthik, Shahbaz Ahmed, Harshal Patel, Deepak Chahar, R Ashwin, Arshdeep Singh
South Africa (probable): Temba Bavuma (capt), Quinton de Kock (wk), Rilee Rossouw/Reeza Hendricks, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Wayne Parnell, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi
