INDIA. Mumbai: The Maharashtra NCC Directorate emerged first, followed by the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Directorates at the All India Nau Sainik Camp 2023 (AINSC 2023) organised at the iconic naval base INS Shivaji, Lonavala in Maharashtra.
The annual 10-day competition camp (October 15–October 24) organized for Naval cadets, under the auspices of the Maharashtra NCC Directorate, was inaugurated by Major General YP Khanduri, Additional Director Genera, Maharashtra NCC Directorate.
Totally, 408 senior division (SD) boy cadets and 204 senior wing (SW) girl cadets from 17 NCC directorates across the country attended the camp. They competed in boat pulling, ship modelling, drill, whaler-boat rigging, semaphore, service subjects, seamanship practicals, small arms firing, and other contests.
This year’s competitions included a multitude of activities that challenged cadets both physically and mentally, with a range of competitions, exercises, and workshops designed to enhance their leadership skills.
The finals of the boat-pulling competition were held at the lake in INS Shivaji. In the girls category, teams from the Directorates of Delhi, Karnataka-Goa, and Uttarakhand won the gold, silver, and bronze medals, while in the boys category, Maharashtra, Delhi, and Karnataka-Goa teams won the gold, silver, and bronze medals, respectively.
Besides the contests and cultural programmes, the cadets enjoyed the opportunity to visit the state-of-the-art marine engineering training facilities at INS Shivaji, a premier technical training institute of the Indian Navy.
On the occasion, Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh, Director General, NCC, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are proud of the achievements of the cadets during AINSC 2023 at INS Shivaji. This event not only highlighted the incredible talent of our young cadets but also strengthened the spirit of camaraderie among the participants. The support and resources provided by Headquarters, Southern Naval Command, and INS Shivaji for this camp were a reflection of their true commitment towards Nation Building.”
