INDIA: On Sunday, team India defeated Sri Lanka by 317 runs at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, thanks to an incredible inning from Virat Kohli (166*) and a four-wicket haul from Mohammed Siraj.
With this victory, India won the ODI series 3-0, and the 317-run win over Sri Lanka was the biggest victory margin in men’s one-day international history.
Team India amassed a massive total of 390/5 after deciding to bat first, thanks to outstanding batting performances by Virat Kohli (166*) and Shubman Gill (116).
In this match, Virat Kohli scored his 46th ODI century, while Shubman Gill scored his second ODI century.
Later, Mohammed Siraj’s four-wicket haul and two wickets each from Mohammad Shami and Kuldeep Yadav helped India dismiss Sri Lanka for just 73 runs.
The Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, remarked that his team delivered a fantastic performance with several highlights.
Rohit Sharma added, “It was thrilling to watch the batsmen score runs, and the bowlers bowl brilliantly to earn the breakthroughs. I believe Siraj’s bowling performance today was positive and that he deserved four slips behind the wicket.”
Rohit Sharma stated, “Siraj is a unique talent who has improved greatly over the past few years, and despite their best efforts, they were unable to give Siraj the fifer.”
Virat Kohli received the Man of the Match trophy for his stunning 166-run undefeated innings. He begins by saying that it is simply an outcome of his intentions.
Virat explained that he always strives to position the side well. He elaborated that it is simply playing with the proper intentions.
The ace Indian batter added that he has felt incredibly good since returning to the side.
In his post-match interview, Kohli said that he is content to be in the open and take time to reach his goals. He claims that he is doing appropriately according to the situation he finds himself in.
He revealed that the new ball has significantly accelerated Siraj’s growth. India has a strong bowling unit going into the World Cup if these pacers keep bowling at the levels they have shown in the just-concluded series.
