Indian team rules the top spot
With 106 points, England is now in third place, but they will have an opportunity to move up when they play New Zealand in the Test series beginning on February 16.
The triumph also resulted in a significant ranking boost for the spin bowling pair Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, thanks to their outstanding stints on a pitch that favoured their bowling.
India is already the top-ranked team in T20Is and ODI, therefore, the team is now top-ranked across all formats.
In the bowlers’ rankings, Ashwin got closer to taking the top spot, while Jadeja got a boost. To restrain the Australian batsmen, the two spinners combined for 15 wickets.
After taking 3/42 in the first innings, Ashwin added 5/37 in the second innings. The current leader in the rankings is Pat Cummins of Australia, but Ashwin is only 21 rating points behind him.
According to the ICC official website, youthful West Indies spinner Gudakesh Motie, who made his debut against Zimbabwe with 19 wickets in two Test matches, is currently ranked 46th overall after only three Test matches.
India’s captain and right-handed batsman Rohit Sharma moved up one spot to position right from ten as a result of his superb century against Australia in Nagpur.
To maintain their spot and increase their chances of making the World Test Championship final in England in June, India must defeat Australia in the upcoming Test in New Delhi.
The team led by Rohit Sharma will significantly benefit if Australia loses the current series by a score of 3-1 or 4-0.
