INDIA.Delhi: About 2000 live cartridges have been recovered from the Anand Vihar area of the National Capital. It’s no surprise that the incident occurred just ahead of 76th Independence Day celebration.
Six people have been arrested in the case and further investigation is going on, police said.
This comes just days after an ‘active ISIS member’ was arrested in the national capital earlier this week.
Tight security arrangements have been made at all sensitive places in Delhi, including Metro stations, railway stations, airports and markets, police said.
“On the occasion of Independence Day, more than 10,000 police personnel will be deployed in different roles across the Red Fort and the routes leading to the venue. We have made flawless and foolproof security arrangements for the day,” Special commissioner of police (law and order) Dependra Pathak was quoted by news agency PTI.
Right before Independence Day, a force of 70 to 75 personnel comprising 5,000 paramilitary and police personnel, besides the security wing and the National Security Guard of the Delhi Police, was deployed near Red Fort in North Delhi.
Apart from the earlier 500 CCTV cameras installed in January, the police have now installed 310 more cameras which are known to be of higher quality, equipped with image analysis and can signal any “suspicious” activity taking place, news agency ANI reported.
