UNITED STATES: Finally, the much-awaited moment has arrived! Henry Cavill returned as Superman. The Hollywood star has now officially confirmed his return to the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) as the Man of Steel.
Theatres erupted with excitement and cheering when Henry Cavill appeared as Superman in the mid-credit scene of the Dwayne Johnson starrer Black Adam. Man of Steel was seen stating, ‘‘Black Adam, we need to talk,’’ with the iconic theme of John Williams tuning in the background.
Henry Cavill is back as Superman
Henry Cavill has officially confirmed his return to the role of Superman. The actor uploaded a video on Instagram with the caption, ‘’A very small taste of what’s to come, my friends. The dawn of hope renewed. Thank you for your patience, it will be rewarded. #Superman.’’
The video opens with a picture of Superman, and then Cavill is seen addressing fans. The actor stated, ‘’Hey, everyone, I wanted to wait until the weekend was over before posting this and because I wanted to give you all chance to watch Black Adam. But now that plenty of you have, I want to make it official that I am back as Superman.’’
Cavill also thanked the fans for their support and he also added that what fans witnessed in Black Adam is a very ‘’small taste’’ of things to come next.
For a long time, a rumour was going around that Henry Cavill was set to appear in Black Adam. It all started when Dwayne Johnson uploaded a photo of himself along with Cavill, which generated a tsunami of theories on the internet.
Following the rumours, fans were expecting Henry Cavill to appear at the San Diego Comic-Con 2022 and make an official announcement about his return as Superman. But the actor didn’t arrive and no further announcement was made by DC or The Rock, which left fans sceptical and curious about the movie.
DC fans didn’t leave hope for Cavill’s return as Superman in Black Adam, and finally, the most-awaited moment happened in the mid-credit scene of Black Adam. Man of Steel’s arrival in the film literally sent a wave of excitement and goosebumps among viewers.
Henry Cavill first appeared as Superman in Zack Snyder’s directorial Man of Steel (2013) and, following it, the actor appeared in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Justice League (2017), and Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021). Now, the actor has finally reprised his role as the iconic DC superhero in Black Adam.
According to multiple media reports, a sequel to Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill, is also in the works. Ben Affleck is also set to reprise his role as Batman in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. It is also rumoured that Gal Gadot will appear as Wonder Woman in a cameo role in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which hints that DC is planning something major for the Superhero Trinity.
