Ayurveda Day is supported by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). In addition, Ayurveda doctors, students, enthusiasts, and supporters, from over 75 countries, at more than 150 locations have confirmed their participation. Earlier in the day, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized upon the importance of Ayurveda in modern-day healing while inaugurating two Ayurveda institutes in the country. He said, “Everything is being integrated in today’s era and this approach has made Ayurveda play an important role in the medical world. Allopathic and Ayurvedic practices will now go hand in hand. For the first time, the science of our ancient India is being integrated with the science of the 21st century.”

“PM Modi’s longstanding commitment to promoting Ayurvedic practices has ushered in a new era in modern-day healing though the science of ancient India. When he had visited New York back in September 2015, he had shared his vision of catapulting India to ‘Vishwa Guru’ status. I remember how passionately he had stressed that Ayurveda must be posited as a global health science,” recollects Malik. An Ayurveda practitioner with over two decades of experience, Malik was deeply inspired by PM Modi’s grand vision. Fast forward to 2020. For the first time so many countries of the world are taking a common global pledge for Ayurveda. “The entire global initiative is in alignment with the United Nations – WHO Sustainable Development Goal of good health and well-being,” rejoices Malik who has been promoting Ayurveda in New York for last 22 years with his Ayurveda café and now with his Happy Life Yoga initiative.

Malik strongly believes that Ayurveda, the ancient Indian science of health and wellness, is great for living a healthy life. He invites everyone to make a pledge to live healthy by embracing Ayurveda. “Your health is your responsibility, you make the choice,” sums up Malik.
