INDIA: The actor of the Millennium, Amitabh Bachchan, turned 80. The most popular actor in Hindi cinema has been working for over five decades now.

His charisma has continued to spread widely since he made his Bollywood debut in 1969 with Saat Hindustani. Several well-known people wish the award-winning actor a happy birthday.

PM Modi took to Twitter to wish the A-list actor a happy birthday. He wrote, “A very happy 80th birthday to Amitabh Bachchan Ji. He is one of India’s most remarkable film personalities who has enthralled and entertained audiences across generations. May he lead a long and healthy life. @SrBachchan”.

Famous Bollywood director, Karan Johar, penned down a heartfelt note for his mentor and admirer, Big B. He wrote, “Amitabh Bachchan is not just an institution, a legend, a masterclass in acting… he is a feeling! A sensation that transports us back to the first time we whistled and clapped for a celebrity, applauded a punchline, or danced in the aisles of a movie theater…A sensation that taught us what a HERO in film is and must always be…A sensation that will live on in our memories of cinema…I feel blessed to have my name as director in his voluminous and stunning filmography. I am blessed to have grown up in front of him and even at age 5, to have felt the thump of his stardom when he walked into a room… There will be artists and megastars and celluloid masters in Indian cinema, but there will never be another Amitabh Bachchan… Happy Birthday, Amit Uncle… This decade, like every other, will be yours.” KJo ended the note with a folded hand emoji.
