UNITED STATES: Blake Shelton received a special surprise from Gwen Stefani in commemoration of his final episode on The Voice, but it wasn’t what he had in mind.
Shelton’s last day as a mentor on the NBC series was the topic of a sweet get-together that Stefani had planned in advance. Shelton had predicted an extravagant farewell party from Stefani on his behalf, she said in the video.
Shelton announced last fall that he would be leaving the program at the end of the season, and he made his final appearance on The Voice during the season 23 finale on Tuesday, May 23, after 12 years.
Gwen planned a get-together with a select group of Shelton’s family members for a lavish meal of “chips and salsa, margaritas, and all that” at Casa Vega in Los Angeles.
The clip began with, “It’s Blake’s last night on ‘The Voice,’ I mean, he has tomorrow, but it’s his last Monday. She also mentioned in the clip, “So tonight was sort of a surprise, and that’s it. I just wanted you guys to know because it’s so dumb.”
In the following scene, Stefani disclosed that her husband, whom she met on the set of the show and later married in 2021, had previously been acting like “such a jerk” and was erroneously believing that she had planned a luxurious party for him, which she hadn’t.
Unfortunately, her plan didn’t turn out the way she had hoped. The singer later clarified that despite the surprise dinner, Shelton, 46, was still adamant that she would also be throwing a larger party the night after his last day of work.
According to the video, which depicts them toasting with friends at a table full of food, the two appeared to resolve their differences in the end.
