UNITED STATES. Texas: Police state that a gunman wounded eight people and seven others at a mall in the north of Dallas on Saturday. Brian Harvey, the city’s police chief, said that the goal of the gunman, who acted independently, has not been deciphered, was to be killed by a police officer following his incessant firing outside of the Allen Premium Outlets mall in Allen, Texas.
The state of Texas is equipped to provide any aid and support local authorities may require; + Greg Abbott termed the shooting an “unspeakable tragedy” in a statement. According to Chief Jon Boyd at the same press conference, nine individuals with gunshot wounds were taken to local hospitals by Allen’s fire department. Eight of the wounded victims, whose ages ranged from 5 to 61, were receiving medical treatment in trauma centres managed by Medical City Healthcare, which operates 16 hospitals in the region.
Boyd disclosed at a second press conference on Saturday night that two of those patients passed away while receiving medical care. While four other wounded were stable, three of the victims were in life-threatening situations.
Evacuation operations were initiated by the police in the Stonebriar Mall late Saturday, as per the police in Frisco, Texas, situated close by and following them, being cognizant of the shots fired in that area. It was not certain if the shooting had taken place.
After the violence broke out, hundreds of people were seen walking calmly out of the mall, located about 25 miles (40 km) northeast of Dallas, while many police officers stood guard. According to the Gun Violence Archive, gun massacres have become excessively common in the United States. At least 198 have taken place this year alone, which is the most at this point compared to at least 2016’s total.
