UNITED STATES: The highly anticipated Greta Gerwig’s Barbie has been making noise ever since the first look was revealed. Now the first reactions are out, increasing the hype among the audience. The fantasy film got huge applause for the cast, script, and production design.
The reviews are worth blowing the minds of cinephiles and making them jump off their seats. The film is gearing up for its release on July 21, 2023.
The character of Barbie is played by Margot Robbie, and Ryan Gosling joined the ensemble cast as Ken; the other actors includes America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Dua Lipa, Emerald Fennell, Issa Rae, Kate McKinnon, Michael Cera, and Will Ferrell.
The film’s premise showcases Gosling and Robbie embark on a voyage of self-discovery to the real world after being expelled from the utopian Barbie Land for being less-than-perfect dolls.
Jamie Jirak of ComicBook.com, expressed the excitement by saying, “I can’t officially quit Twitter before telling you all that #Barbie is currently my favourite film of the year. Greta Gerwig somehow exceeded my expectations. She tackles the positives and negatives of Barbie so beautifully. Give Ryan Gosling an Oscar nomination; I’m dead serious!”
“Barbie is perfection. Greta Gerwig delivers a nuanced commentary on what it means to be a woman in a whimsical, wonderful and laugh-out-loud funny romp. The entire cast shines, especially Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in roles they were clearly born to play,” wrote Katcy Stephan from Vogue.
All positive reviews pouring in for the Margot Robbie starrer, the movie is all set to put the box office on fire. However, the Greta Gerwig-directed film will have to compete with Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, which will mark the biggest clash of Hollywood biggies this year.
