UNITED STATES: New York City and Los Angeles witnessed a powerful protest as actors gathered outside the offices of major entertainment companies, including Netflix Inc and Paramount Global, demanding fair compensation and better benefits for working-class actors.
Among the supporters was acclaimed actress Susan Sarandon, who expressed her dissatisfaction with the outdated contract system that no longer serves the needs of the industry.
Joining the chorus of voices supporting the strike is none other than international star Priyanka Chopra. Known for her strong personality and fearless advocacy, Chopra recently took to social media to express her solidarity with the ongoing SAG AFTRA strike.
The talented actress, who has been making waves with her latest OTT release, Citadel, and is set to start shooting for her upcoming project, Heads of State, shared a support note for the union and her fellow colleagues.
Chopra, who is also a member of SAG AFTRA, acknowledged the impact of the strike on her own film production, Heads Of State, which is currently facing postponement due to the labor dispute.
As a member of the union, she is committed to standing alongside her fellow actors until a new deal is reached between SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP.
The strike has brought attention to the growing demand for better compensation and benefits for actors in the changing landscape of the entertainment industry.
While the AMPTP claims to have made significant increases in compensation for SAG-AFTRA and Writers Guild of America (WGA) members, the actors continue to fight for their rights and fair treatment.
The ongoing strike serves as a reminder that the industry must adapt to the evolving needs of its workforce. As actors rallied for change, the negotiations between the AMPTP and the union representing major studios, including Netflix and Walt Disney Co, will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the industry and ensuring a fair and sustainable environment for all actors involved.
