UNITED STATES: In a bold move to expand its presence in the highly competitive gaming market, Epic Games Store has launched the ‘Now on Epic’ incentive program, aiming to entice game publishers and developers to bring their titles to their platform.
Under this groundbreaking initiative, participating publishers and developers stand to receive a remarkable 100 per cent of the net revenue from user spending for the initial six months after their game’s release on the Epic Games Store. This represents a significant boost from the previous 88 per cent share.
Epic Games emphasized the enduring benefits of the program, highlighting that once this initial six-month period concludes, titles will continue to enjoy the favourable 88 per cent/12 per cent revenue split, which has become an industry standard.
To be eligible for the program, publishers and developers are required to commit a minimum of three of their games, released before October 31, 2023, and currently available on a different PC store.
For participants who do not meet this criterion, Epic stipulates that all their live products be ported over.
The ‘Now on Epic’ program presents an exciting opportunity for developers and publishers to re-release their games and tap into new, incremental audiences.
Furthermore, this move aims to streamline the process of discovering sought-after content, ensuring that gamers can consistently find what they’re looking for.
Enrollment for developers and publishers is open until December 31, 2024, and their games must be available on the Epic Games Store by June 30, 2025.
This initiative not only signals a major shift in the industry’s revenue-sharing landscape but also showcases Epic Games’ commitment to fostering a thriving and competitive gaming ecosystem.
