Meanwhile, the Australian and Indian cricket boards are investigating a potential biosecure breach. In a video posted on social media by a cricket fan, cricketers Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Navdeep Saini, and Prithvi Shaw were seeing having a meal inside a Melbourne restaurant. The fan claimed to have been seated close to the players talked with them. He also talked about getting a hug from Pant after he paid their bills. However, the fan later retracted the claim of a hug after it raised serious questions on a breach of protocols.
In a statement, Cricket Australia said, “The BCCI and CA are investigating the matter and seeking to determine whether the outing constitutes a breach of biosecurity protocols.”
In the interim, on the advice of the Australian and Indian medical teams, players have been placed in isolation as a precaution. “This will include separating the group of players from the broader Indian and Australian squads when traveling and at the training venue”, Cricket Australia further added.
The four-Test series between India and Australia is leveled at 1-1. After playing two test matches in Melbourne, the players are all set to travel to Sydney for the third test match which starts on Thursday.
